Why WordPress over another CMS?

WordPress Vs. Drupal

Ease of Use

When I’m doing an audit of a client’s live site, I’m looking at page count, design, tech and platform, load time, and SERP rankings. Drupal is a widely used CMS, however in recent years, WordPress has become so advanced that it knocks Drupal out of the ring as far as ease of use goes. A lot of this is due to WordPress plugins.

Time & Cost

Say goodbye to 20+ hour technical audits. A lot of the work is cut out when we are dealing with WordPress vs a legacy CMS like Drupal or Magento. No need to hire a specialist developer to spend hours auditing a live site. We save a lot of time and money when working with WordPress due to leveraging plugins to make our job easier.

WordPress Vs. Shopify

Ease of Use

Out of the box, Shopify offers different themes and templates that are ready to use. Minimal adjustments and modifications are required to get the site to look like something you may feel proud to present. However, when you start looking at other Shopify websites and you find yourself wondering how they heck their site looks the way it does and you are still struggling to adjust the ‘header’ of your site, you can quickly find yourself stuck.

Time & Cost

Custom Shopify design can become very pricey, this is due to the need of a liquid developer that specializes in building custom Shopify sites. These days, more and more Shopify users and hiring custom Shopify theme developers to build their E-commerce sites. This is a great option if you have already invested in Shopify and don’t mind paying the platform monthly fee’s to manage your site. The only downside is that, once you stop paying, say goodbye to your Shopify website.

WordPress Vs. Squarespace

Ease of Use

Squarespace is another great option is you need something quick and simple. You have a great verity of template to choose from and you can customize the look and feel of your website. They have a full suite of themes you can choose from, similar to Shopify. However these these are limited and you aren’t able to customize them 100% to the exact look and feel you want.

Time & Cost

Although the cost to enter this platform is reasonable, you still have to pay every month. If you decide to cancel, you loose your website, just as you do with Shopify. The SEO tools on the platform isn’t very friendly. The cost is usually around $500-$3,000 for a Squarespace build. Keep in mind, that it is really a great option if you want something simple and fast, if you are thinking long term and want to eventually gain organic traffic, then I would stay away from this option.
